Course Outline
The HLT43207 Certificate IV in Health Administration covers the knowledge and skills required for people to work either autonomously or as a senior member of a team providing administrative functions in a range of health care settings. Settings may include hospitals, community health centres and private practice.
 
Course Structure
The Certificate IV in Health Administration consists of 15 units of competency: 5 compulsory units and 10 elective units. Elective units are chosen to reflect the work role and required duties of staff in these environments.

 
The units cover topics such as:

·         Using advanced medical terminology
·         Participate in OHS processes
·         Maintain business resources
·         Organise personal work priorities and development

Delivery Options
The Certificate IV in Health Administration is delivered online, allowing students to study at their own pace. Students will also undertake 190 hours of practical work placement which may be undertaken in a range of health services including hospitals, aged care facilities, private practice and community health centres.

Mercy Health Training Institute will assist students in sourcing their work placement.
 
 
Assessments
Assessments for this qualification are undertaken progressively throughout the course duration. The assessments enable the individual to demonstrate the application of the key knowledge and skills for the units of competency. Assessments consist of:
·          Written questions
·          Projects
·          Observation
·          Third party reports
·          Case Scenarios

For individuals who have worked in the industry for some time, and have the requisite skills and knowledge may apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), or Credit Transfer (CT).

Selection Criteria

Prospective participants:

* must have a genuine desire to work providing administrative support in a health care enviornment
* will be required to completed a language, literacy and numeracy assessment.
* participants must hold a national
 police check no older than 6 months from the date of the course   commencement if undertaking practical placement
* must provide evidence of Australian Citizenship or permanent residency

Employment Opportunities
There are many employment opportunities in public and private hospitals, health care services, aged care facilities and private practice.
 
Job roles include
Administration supervisor, practice manager, executive assistant, ward clerk and senior clinical coder.

Full fee paying
$1,985.00 per participant. 
Deposit of $400 is payable to secure the enrolment ($150 is non-refundable).
