TAA40104 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment - Upgrade

Course Outline
The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment – Upgrade course is aimed at individuals who are interested in updating their BSZ40198 Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment qualification.  The course has been designed to improve the quality of the teaching and learning of vocational, educational and training practitioners.

The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment – Upgrade course:
  • recognises the training and assessment experience of individuals (recognition assessment is available to demonstrate current competency)
  • has a strong focus on developing new theory and skills for the trainer to apply in the workplace
  • provides support for individuals through workshops and individual coaching
Course Structure
Individuals undertaking the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment – Upgrade course must demonstrate competency in the 12 core and 2 elective units of the TAA40104 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification.

Five of the core units and one elective unit have direct equivalence to the former BSZ40198 qualification – thus recognition assessment opportunities exist.

Seven of the core units and one elective unit have no equivalence to the former BSZ40198 qualification, thus individuals must demonstrate competency by participating in workshops, completing assessment tasks or through recognition assessment.

Delivery Options
The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment – Upgrade course is delivered via five workshops and facilitated independent learning.

The workshops are scheduled fortnightly on alternate Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Assessment for this qualification is through a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate the application of competencies through workplace samples, workplace projects for each cluster, written questions and reflection.  The workplace projects are structured to support the application of competencies in the workplace.

Individuals who have worked in the industry for some time and have the requisite skills and knowledge may apply for recognition assessment.
