Masters in Nursing - Management Stream


Mercy Health Training Institute in partnership with La Trobe University is offering the Masters of Nursing program with a management focus.

 

The course is aimed at nurses and midwives who are currently in leadership positions or those who are succession planning to take on management and leadership roles in the future.


Program Overview
The aim of this Master of Nursing program is to broaden the knowledge and skills of nurses preparing them to contribute to the present and future development of health care services.


Program Structure
The Masters of Nursing program is a 180 credit point program with an exit option available at the Postgraduate Diploma level (120 credit points).

Flexible Study Options

The proposed flexible mode of delivery will be attractive to nurses looking to advance their career in  a nursing management role.

 This program is offered both:
 • On-line
 • Class-room based tutorials with self-paced learning


Program Duration
The Masters program may be taken over one and half (1 ½) years full-time or the part-time equivalent.  The participant has up to four (4) years to complete the program.

Eligibility Criteria
 Applicants must:
 • Hold current Division 1 Registration with NBV or equivalent
 • Have at least one year of recent relevant nursing experience
 • Hold a degree or diploma from a college or university


Tuition Fees
 The La Trobe University program fees can be found at

 Payment options include
 • Full Fee-paying places
 • Limited number of Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP)
 • Australian citizens are eligible
 • Defer tuition fees by using the HECS Help or FEE-Help loan schemes


The MHTI program fees are:
 $1270 per 20 credit point unit

 $585 per unit – supplementary learning and additional assessment:
 • Upgrade from CIV in TAA
 • Facilitating learning in a clinical setting
 • Upgrade from Diploma of Management
 • Health Care Quality
 • Clinical Leadership in Health Care

 Payment options include
 • Full Fee-paying
 • Salary Packaging - fortnightly payments
 • Payroll deductions – fortnightly payments


Scholarships
 Mercy Health Foundation is offering scholarships to provide some financial assistance to employees     undertaking the Masters program and are Full Fee paying students.
